Learning to Be Grateful

12 HUMSS

One meaningful experience I had was when I went to Sto. Niño a few weeks ago. I saw many kids on the street asking for food. Seeing them begging for food made me sad because I realized that not all children have enough food to eat everyday. It also made me think about how lucky I am because I have food to eat at home.

When I saw the kids, I decided to give them some bread. I did not have a lot to give, but I still wanted to help. I knew that the bread would not be enough to solve all their problems, but I thought that giving them something was better than doing nothing. I chose to help because I wanted to share what I had with them, even if it was only a small amount.

When I gave them the bread, I noticed that they were still very thankful. Even though the food was not enough, they were happy to receive it. Their reaction really stayed in my mind. It made me realize that sometimes I complain about food or do not think much about it because I am used to having enough. For these kids, even a small piece of bread could make them happy.

This experience also helped me understand people who do not have much. Before, I knew that some people were poor, but seeing the kids on the streets made me understand it more. I realized that we should not judge people because of their situation. We do not know what they are going through or why they are living that way. Sometimes, they just need someone to show them kindness and care.

In the end, the experience taught me a very important lesson: I should be grateful for what I have. Giving bread to the kids may seem like a small thing, but it changed the way I think. I learned to appreciate the food I eat, my home, and the people who take care of me. I also learned that helping others does not always need to be something big. Even a small act, like giving food to someone who is hungry, can make a difference.

This experience reminded me that I have many things to be thankful for. It also taught me that whenever I have the chance to help someone, I should try to do so. I may not be able to help everyone, but I can always start with something small.
